About CONTINENTAL CREAM QUARRIES

about us

Experience To Create a Legacy

Continental Cut Stone family of businesses is committed to operating in an environmentally responsible and sustainable manner, prioritizing reduced energy consumption during the extraction process. This commitment extends to minimizing their environmental footprint and fostering respect in all interactions with workers, vendors, customers, and neighbors.

Continental Cream Quarries is a historic limestone quarry in central Texas, which boasts a remarkable legacy, reopened its operations in 2009. Distinguished by both its rich history and the exceptional quality of its raw materials, this quarry has played a vital role in structures, including the University of Texas campus, the restoration of the American Academy of Motion Pictures, and the George W. Bush Library.

The key to its prominence lies in the quarry’s consistent and abundant limestone deposits, ideal for crafting substantial elements like large panel sizes, columns, balustrades, and surrounds. Notably, the quarry has embraced a groundbreaking addition to the natural stone quarry and fabrication industry: the ANSI/373 NSI Sustainable Certification, a third-party verified quarrier. This prestigious certification encompasses various facets, such as
  • Social Responsibility
  • Embodied Carbon
  • Energy Conservation
  • Water Conservation
  • Site Management and
  • Responsible Manufacturing Best Practices

The certification serves as both a benchmark and a continuous improvement framework, allowing us to strive for excellence in these endeavors.

With this achievement, Continental Cream Quarries joins the select few quarries recognized for rigorous NSI standards. Continental Cut Stone portfolio includes limestone quarries that yield Lueders Limestone in Lueders, Texas, offering the building industry an expanded array of resources for their upcoming Limestone projects.

Today, CCS has firmly established itself as a front-runner and collaborative partner, consistently delivering quality stone products on time and within budget while advancing the cause of sustainability within the Natural Stone sector. Our interests extend beyond our own success, as Rob and Continental Cut Stone employees have been active supporters of industry associations throughout their careers. Continental Cut Stone culture is to build up the industry by giving back.

Mission

“To serve with confidence, skill and craftsmanship and to empower our employees and our customers with the opportunity to grow and prosper. We are driven to perform with integrity, to be respectful and to be a team player. We deliver excellence in service and in product.”

President/Founder

Rob Teel

After receiving his Engineering Management Degree from Vanderbilt University, Rob Teel, our Founder and President, moved from Dallas to Austin to oversee the operations of a retail stone yard.

With his passion for people and desire to create a working atmosphere that focuses on getting the job done, he soon found himself invested in Continental Cut Stone in 1987 at the age of 27. Today, Continental Cut Stone stands as a nationally recognized custom stone fabricator. With his desire to increase both quality and operational efficiency, he sought out and purchased his first Lueders quarry in 1999. A decade later, in 2009, he successfully reopened the “Cordova” Cream Shell limestone Quarry.

He puts the right people in place, empowers them to grow and prosper and continues to invest in technology and resources to get the job done.

As a key member of the Natural Stone Council, he collaborated with a dedicated team of industry leaders and the NSF to develop the Natural Stone Sustainable Certification. In 2021, CCS achieved the Sustainability Certification for our Cordova Cream and Cordova Shell Quarry, as well as the Silver Certification for our Fabrication Mill.

Operations Manager

Angelo Montemayor

A 50 year veteran in mining operations, manager and friend rolled into 1. A tribute to his dedication came in the form of Lake Angelo. Anytime you come out to the quarry for a visit, you will pass this sign to the lake. Angelo knows his quarry and passes his knowledge and experience to those in his circle both professionally and through education to our Architectural community with regular tours.

If a quarry is not developed appropriately, stone quality and dimensions for cutting the right element can be limited. He knows this quarry. Continental Cream Quarries has a reputation for its large format blocks capable of exceeding expectations in layout and design.
